School Meals

School Lunches

Your child has the choice of a hot school meal or a packed lunch from home.

Hot meals are cooked and served daily in school provided by Class Catering, an independent catering company providing schools meals across Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Warwickshire.  Meals are freshly prepared daily by a dedicated team using fresh and locally sourced ingredients. We operate a Gold Food for Life standard 4 weekly menu and all our menus meet and exceed all national nutritional standards.

For even more information please visit our website

School dinners are charged at £2.60 per day or £13.00 per week and must be paid in advance via ParentPay. A child must always have dinner money credit on ParentPay.

Free School Meals

From September 2014 the government is offering free school meals to all children in key stage one (years R, 1 and 2). For more information visit www.gov.uk and search free school meals.

For children in key stage two (years 3 and above) free school meals are available to those on a limited income - please ask at the School Office for more information in confidence or check out the Warwickshire County Council website to see if your child may qualify for free school meals:

Packed Lunches

Alternatively your child may bring a packed lunch from home. You will need to provide your child with a secure sandwich box, clearly named.  For safety reasons, hot drinks, glass containers or cans should not be included. Please note we promote healthy eating in school and would ask you to consider packing healthy option food for your child so no sweets, chocolates or fizzy drinks please.

Please be aware once a term we will perform a healthy eating audit of packed lunches and morning snacks to ensure we are maintaining our healthy eating policy and continuing to promote the importance of healthy eating.

Snacks

St Mary's has achieved the Healthy School Award for encouraging a healthy lifestyle. At break time we provide fresh fruit for all key stage one children and older children are also encouraged to snack on fruit or healthy snacks brought in from home. We consider a healthy snack to be fruit, vegetables, breadsticks, rice cakes and malt loaf. Please may we ask you not to bring in crisps, high sugar cereal bars, sweets, chocolate bars or pastries containing chocolate.

Water

In school children are encouraged to drink water and to have their own individual bottle readily available. These can be water bottles or sports bottles which must be clearly labelled and can be filled daily at school.

Milk

Reception children can receive free milk daily in school at morning break up to their 5th birthday. To register your child please visit:

Coolmilk.com

Parents may also register over 5’s and pay for daily milk at morning break (approx cost is £17 per term).
