School Closure Procedures

PROCEDURE FOR MORNING SCHOOL CLOSURE

In the event of bad weather, heating failure etc. this is the system for notifying everyone that school will be closed before the start of a school day: –

We will email everyone from our newsletter distribution list if it is likely to be a school closure. It is vital therefore that you inform the school as soon as possible of any change to your email details. Additionally any information regarding closure would be put on the school's closed Twitter account and Henley Matters Facebook page.  

If you are concerned about extreme weather conditions and you have not received an email from school by 8.00 am on a school day, please phone the school. 

We highly recommend that you also sign up to the county text messaging service t http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/schoolclosures as you will be alerted within 15 minutes of the closure being posted on the county website. This is a good back-up in case our system is out of action for any reason.

You can still tune into your local radio stations for information from 7.00 am onwards; they take their information from the county website, see link above.

Each family is responsible for finding out if school is open for themselves.  Occasionally we will make a decision the day before difficult weather is expected based on weather reports and police advice.

We will do everything possible to keep the school open unless safety is compromised. Decisions are made around 6.00 am so everyone should know what the situation is by 8.00 am. However conditions can vary locally so you may need to make your own decision as to whether or not it is safe to travel.

PROCEDURE FOR DAY TIME SCHOOL CLOSURE

If the decision to close the school is made during the day, we will email all parents again through the newsletter distribution list and put any information on the front page of the school website. During inclement weather it is essential that you check your emails regularly to see if the school is closing. Additionally any information regarding closure would be put on the school's closed Twitter account and Henley Matters Facebook page.
