‘One family united in Christ to be the best we can be’

Class 4 (Year 5)

Class 4.

I would personally like to welcome you to our class page.

My name is Mr Holmes and I am delighted to be the class teacher in year 5 (class4)

I look forward to building strong relationships with the children and you their parents. We are lucky to have the support of Mr Green who is our teaching assistant and whole school sports coach.

This year we have some exciting topics, trips and activities planned, this includes the blitz, learning a modern foreign language, space and fingers crossed a trip to the Coventry Cathedral.

PE lessons will be taught on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons this term, please can you ensure that your child comes to school in their full PE uniform on these days and that earing's are either removed by the child for lessons or not worn on PE days. Staff cannot remove children's earing's

This term's topic is "Jungle Fever", the children will be learning about the different rainforests around the world, and the animals / creatures that inhabit them. The children will also learn about how we use materials from the rainforest such as making medicines to building materials. The will look at the effects of deforestation and how we can prevent further destruction, they will learn how the world leaders are changing the impact of deforestation.

The curriculum in class 4 will continue to develop children's knowledge and understanding across all subjects. The core elements of their learning are centered around English, maths, Science and RE. Excellent progress in these areas will provide a strong foundation for the development in other areas. You can find a copy of class 4's timetable under "Class 4 Admin".

Homework will be set on a Friday; this includes spellings, and the children will then be tested on these on the following Thursday morning.

I would like to remind you that arrival at school is between 8:35 and 8:45 and dismissal is at 3:00. Children are also allowed to bring in their own pencil cases.

I feel it is a great privilege to teach your children and I look forward to watching them grow as the year progresses.

Kind regards

Mr G Holmes
