‘One family united in Christ to be the best we can be’

Class 3 (Year 3/ Year 4)

Hello! My name is Miss Wells. I teach Class 3 which consists of children in Year 3 and Year 4 with support from Mrs Bond and Mrs Pakeman.

This term, our topic is 'Savage Stone Age'. We will be learning all about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age periods. We will look at what made these periods in history special, exploring the discoveries and inventions, what cave men were really like and discover what it would have been like to live in those times. We will examine the types of homes people used to live in, what they ate and how they farmed. We will also learn why historical artefacts are important and how we can use them to help us discover information about the past.

The curriculum in Class 3 will continue to develop children's skills, knowledge and understanding across all subjects. The core elements of their learning are centred around English, maths, science and RE. Excellent progress in these areas will provide a strong foundation for development in other areas. You can find a copy of our weekly timetable under 'Class 3 Admin'.

This year, some of our year 3 children are preparing for their Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Eucharist (First Holy Communion). Our year 4 children are continuing to grow and progress in their journey as children of God.

I very much look forward to the year ahead and to working with parents/carers and our pupils to make this a very special year at St Mary's.
