‘One family united in Christ to be the best we can be’

Class 2 (Year 1/ Year 2)

Welcome to Class 2

Welcome to Class 2 with Miss O'Leary, Mrs Morrow and Mrs Moore. Here you will find out some information about our timetable and class expectations. This term, our topic is Historical Heroes and we will be reading Supertato by Paul Linnet and Sue Hendra, an excellent and engaging book

  • Reading - In Class 2, it is expected that the children read for at least 15 minutes every day. The benefits of reading aloud are huge and it would be great if you could take some time each week to read with your child. They will choose a reading book from the library after taking their STAR test which will assess their reading skills and give them a level. I monitor this very closely and will support the children in choosing an appropriate book. When they have finished their book, they will take a quiz and they will choose a new book from a level based on their quiz result.

  • Times Tables - These should be practised regularly. It is expected that children in Class 2 know their 2,5,10 and 3 times tables . This will provide them with pace in completing a range of calculations.

  • Spelling - The children will have weekly spellings to practise at home. Spellings will be tested the following week to support the children in their writing.
