St Mary's Catholic Primary School

‘One family united in Christ to be the best we can be’

Class 2 (Year 1/ Year 2)

Welcome to Class Two. My name is Miss Moore, I teach Class Two which consists of pupils in Years 1 and 2. We have a super teaching assistant called Miss Byrne, who works with us Monday-Friday. Miss Perch also supports in Class Two and currently teaches Year 1 for English and Maths.

Our topic for this term is 'Beautiful Beaudesert', we have been looking at our local area of Henley-In-Arden, exploring physical and human features, we will be visiting the mount and walking around the local area, whilst learning about the history of the Beaudesert.

In English children will be learning about instruction writing. We are looking at 'How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth'.

The curriculum in Class 2 will continue to develop children’s skills, knowledge and understanding. The core elements of their learning are centered around English, Maths, Science and RE. Excellent progress in these areas will provide a strong foundation for development in other areas.

Year 2 prepares our pupils for their SATS assessments. Year 1 are preparing for their phonics screening.

We very much look forward to the year ahead and to working with parents/carers and our pupils to make this a very special year at St Mary's.

PE will be on a Wednesday and Thursday. Please come to school in PE Uniform.

Homework is set on a Friday and should be returned on Thursday.

Seesaw is a communication platform for teaching and learning. All other communication should be sent via the school office for the attention of the staff member.
